Group visits
Out on a group trip by train, just like in the old days? At Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo, your group will discover the charm of historic rail travel. The scent of coal, the rhythm of the rails, and the character of our vintage trains combine to create a calm and atmospheric experience.
You can join a regular service day with your group or opt for a special extra train at a time that suits you. From short narrow gauge trips to a journey to Eeklo with our steam train or diesel rail car – even a private trip with dinner on board is possible.
We’re happy to help you plan a well-organised trip in a truly unique setting.
Group visits on service days
On Sundays and Belgian public holidays (and on Wednesdays in July and August), we warmly welcome groups on our service days. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a ride on our historic trains together and explore the museum grounds.
As a group (starting from 15 people), you can choose from two packages at a special rate:
- Guided visit + standard gauge return Maldegem-Eeklo + narrow gauge ride: € 11 per person (from age 4)
- Guided visit + narrow gauge ride (without standard gauge return trip to Eeklo): € 8 per person (from age 4)

Private train
We’re also happy to welcome groups outside of our regular service days for tailor-made outing. Together, we can plan a private train ride to suit your group’s wishes.
Groups are welcome all year round by reservation – even outside our normal opening days. Catering on board is possible and can be arranged when booking.
Bookings are preferably made via our website, but can also be done by phone.
We kindly ask that you book at least one month in advance.
Departure and arrival are usually in Maldegem, but upon request (and for an additional fee), our stations at Balgerhoeke and Eeklo can also be used as departure or arrival points.
BY RAILCAR TO EEKLO

From the railcar, passengers enjoy a 360° view of the railway and its surroundings. During the journey, you can also see the driver and the driving controls.
The return trip along the 10-kilometre route takes around one hour.
In Eeklo, other attractions or events can be combined with your visit.

By STeam train to Eeklo

On the steam train, you can travel in a 1st-class carriage with plush seats, a 2nd-class carriage with leatherette benches, or a 3rd-class carriage with wooden benches.
The return journey along the 10-kilometre route takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
In Eeklo, you can combine your visit with other attractions or events.
A guided tour of the site and/or museum shed is included in this package.
NARROW gAUGE RIDE with DIESEL train

A diesel locomotive pulls the narrow gauge train with open carriages for 1.5 kilometre along the former railway line to Bruges.
The return trip takes approximately 20 minutes.
A guided tour of the site and/or museum shed is included in this package.
NARROW GAUGE RIDE WITH STEAM TRAIN
