The Oriënt Dining Express returns!
On Sunday, August 31, Belgium’s most romantic train will run again. Our steam locomotive will haul the train while you enjoy a delicious lunch on board, catered by Jurgen Kookt.

Please note that this event is not suitable for babies and children under the age of 12.
We kindly ask that all children remain seated and supervised by an adult throughout the journey.

Would you like to learn more about our Oriënt Dining Express and the dedicated team behind it?
Sign up now for a complimentary guided tour just before the journey starts. One of our volunteers will welcome you and share insights into the historic carriages as well as the authentic steam locomotive that will carry you. Afterwards, we’mm take a peek inside the museum shed, where many more historic carriages and locomotives are housed.

How? When making your reservation, you can select an additional ‘experience’ called ‘Geleide rondleiding’. Please note that it is normal for the screen to display ‘Niet op voorraad’.

Practical information: You are expected to arrive one houre before the departure of the journey.

Where does the train depart from and where does it arrive?

The Oriënt Dining Express departs from and returns to Maldegem station | Stationsplein 8, 9990 Maldegem.

Is parking available?

There is ample parking nearby, ensuring a relaxed and worry-free start to your journey.

What’s included in the price?

Can you accommodate special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or vegan options?

The kitchen facilities on board are limited, so please inform us well in advance if you have any special requests. Unfortunately, we’re unable to make changes on the day of your journey.

Are there facilities for young children or people with reduces mobility?

Due to the historic nature of the Oriënt Dining Express, we unforunately cannot accommodate pushchairs or wheelchairs on board. There are also no facilities for feeding or caring for young children during the journey.

Are pets allowed on the Oriënt Dining Express?

We love animals, and they are welcome on our regular trains. However, due to the delicate interior of our dining carriages, pets are not permitted on board of the Oriënt Dining Express.

The Oriënt Dining Express takes you back to the golden age of express trains in the 1960s and 1970s, when dining carriages of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagon-Lits were a daily sight on major routes and international services.

All guests are server the same menu – something that is no longer common today. The dedicated team of volunteers at Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo goes above and beyond to offer you an authentic culinary experience on board.

The Oriënt Dining Express is organised by our heritage railway society to support its ongoing work in restoring, maintaining, and operating its entire collection. Every aspect of the Oriënt Dining Express – from preparation to service – is carried out by passionate volunteers.
