How to get here
Stoomtrein Maldegem-Eeklo is easy to reach by car, bus, train, or bicycle. Whether you’re coming from afar or live nearby, there’s always a convenient way to get to us.

By car
Station Maldegem is easily accessible from Bruges and Ghent via the N9, and from Aalter via the N44. There are several public car parks within walking distance of the station, so you can quickly reach our site and enjoy the steam trains.
By train
You can easily reach us by train. If you’re travelling with NMBS, get off at Eeklo station, located on the Ghent-Eeklo line.
From there you can transfer to our steam train, which departs from NMBS platform 3.
Please note: on Wednesdays in July and August, our train does not stop at the NMBS station but at the Eeklo Oostveld stop instead. This stop is about a 200-metre walk from the NMBS station. From the station, walk past the bus stop towards the level crossing on Oostveldstraat. Cross the level crossing – the Eeklo Oostveld stop is on the other side.
This way, you’ll be on your way quickly to a unique train experience!
By bus
Station Maldegem is well served by bus. The bus stop is right outside the station. You can take De Lijn’s bus line 50, which runs between Bruges, Maldegem, Eeklo, and Ghent. De Lijn’s bus line 87, coming from Deinze and Aalter, also stops here.
Get off at Maldegem station stop, and you’re right there!
By bicycle
Station Maldegem is easily accessible by bicycle. At the bus stop near the station, you’ll find a covered (unattended) bike shelter where you can leave your bike during your visit.
Additionally, the station is close to cycling junction 10 of the Meetjesland network, making it especially convenient for those wishing to explore the region by bike.
